Science as Art

Symmetry, flow, and the craft side.

Rendering a brain well and tiling a plane well turn out to be the same skill: you are solving for how shapes meet, where the eye lands, and what the colour is doing. This is the non-clinical half of that, kept separate so it does not get in the way of anyone here to evaluate the consulting work.

Interlocking bird tessellation in blue and orange filling the plane with no gaps
Interlocking birds Generated from a symmetry group, tiling the plane with no gaps and no overlaps. Output of a generator I wrote, so the tiling is provably correct rather than eyeballed. Open Tessala →
Fluid simulation rendered as fine filament streamlines forming a rotating needle through a disc
The Navier-Stokes Needle A rotating column of fluid punching through an inflow sheet, coloured by swirl rate and drawn as dense filaments. Solved and rendered live in the browser, no pre-baked frames. Open the simulation →
A cortical surface with collection imagery flowed across it as a marbled metallic texture
Cortex A collection mapped across an ICBM-152 cortical surface, the source imagery stretched along the folds until it reads as marbled metal. Anatomy as a canvas rather than a diagram. Open the cortex → Built for Cameraderie Cards →
Cards radiating outward from the hollow of a geode, lit with scattered sparkles
Geode A collection cracked open like a mineral specimen, cards set into the cavity as crystal faces catching the light. The shell is procedural, so no two geodes come out the same shape. Open the geode → Built for Cameraderie Cards →
Cloth simulation of a quilt stitched from cards on a gold thread lattice
Card Quilt A real cloth simulation, not a flat mockup: panels stitched on a gold thread lattice, left to settle under gravity so the hem ripples the way fabric actually does. Open the quilt → Built for Cameraderie Cards →
Cards arranged along a golden spiral, each successive card scaled by the golden ratio
Golden Spiral Cards laid along a logarithmic spiral, each step scaled by the golden ratio, zooming forever inward. The arc is drawn to the same constant, so the layout and the curve agree by construction rather than by eye. Open the spiral → Built for Cameraderie Cards →
A large image assembled as a mosaic from hundreds of small tiled card images
Card-of-Cards Mosaic One image reconstructed from hundreds of smaller ones, each tile chosen to match the local colour of the target. Every card in a collection becomes a brushstroke. Open the mosaic → Built for Cameraderie Cards →

Back to the brains.

If you came here for a scan-derived exhibit, an interactive viewer, or a figure that will survive a hostile expert, that work is on the main page.
